This is an AMAZING website. Dillon is a webmaster and design GENIUS as well as an incredible filmmaker. The Foundation is so blessed to have him as our Executive Director!
I was reading through our history and our articles just now and I am still blown away at how far we have come in the past few years, and the generosity and passionate spirit of all of our supporters and activists who came behind us, as well as the tireless work of our board members and FANHS and our volunteers.
I just returned from the FANHS national board of trustees meeting in Seattle, Washington and they applauded the board's efforts and sent their congratulations to us. Uncle Fred and Auntie Dorothy Cordova sent their special regards and congratulations to the Little Manila Board.
I can't take much of any credit for the board's amazing work: while I'm always in the media promoting LM, it's the Little Manila Board, especially Elena, Rico, and Dillon, the leadership, who deserve every accolade and all the credit. I've stepped down to focus on my new job as professor of history at SF State.
Onward goes the struggle. On Aug. 4, I hope to see many of you at the commemoration of the I-Hotel Eviction. The film "Fall of the I Hotel" and the eviction and rebuilding struggle is the Ninang for the Little Manila Project. It inspired all of us to do the same for Stockton.
Maraming salamat sa inyo! Thank you Dillon for such an amazing website and resource!

aye wuss up? my names rich. I'm glad there's a foundation on rebuilding to perserve what the Filipino's has done during the time as assmilation was taking place. I knew a little bit of Filipino history here in America through a class in SFCC, but this class focused on the range of different asians that arrived here. I did not know about Little Manila. During my time of work at Fishermans wharf, a person came up to me. We talked about a few things and I happen to mention that my parents has a house in Stockton. That person asked, did my parents buy the house in Stockton, because its a Filipino based community? I said no, we have relatives in Stockon. I moved here in Stockton in late December 2002. Driving around and exiting Downtown from the freeway, I've seen the Little Manila sign. I said wow this used to be little Manila! Anyways to make long story short, I was curious to find out about this history. (I was born in Philippines) So, my curiousity led me to this site. Thanx for all the people who's working to leave the mark of the Filipino's by keeping the history alive. I'll try my best to make others aware of rebuilding Little Manila. "Mabuhay"

Are there any plans to have maps and self guided walking tour instructions on your website?
Maybe you could include old photos of what everything use to look like.
People could print out this information and then drop by the site to do their own exploring.
Are there any plans to have a museum and/or guided tours?

Hello,
My name is Mary Dulatre and I was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar in the Philippines from September 2002 to September 2003. During the duration of my grant, I completed a project entitled “Oral Histories of the Ilocanos: Life Experiences from World War II to Present.” I collected almost 70 life stories of Filipinos in the Ilocos region of the Philippines ranging from the ages of 60 to 90. I tape-recorded these interviews, transcribed and translated them. These interviews are presented in Tagalog, Ilocano, and English. I addressed topics such World War II, the Marcos presidency, childhood, raising children, marriage, education, roles of men and women, livelihood, and language. I recently published this project and I am now fulfilling my mission of disseminating these stories to those who want to better understand the Filipino people. These are inspiring stories of survival, sacrifice and perseverance. You will find that their histories are connected to all ethnicities and not only those of Filipino or Ilocano descent.
I am asking you to invest in this worthy project by purchasing a copy of my book at http://www.lulu.com/content/127302#. It is my intention to donate my profits to WWII veterans and their families in the Philippines. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding my project. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Mary Dulatre

With deepest sympathy, my thoughts and prayers go out to Dawn and the Mabalon Family. He was such a great community leader...I'll always remember how much he talked about the war and the American Legion Post!
Can someone please email me Dawn's contact information- I'd like to send a card and call her. Thanks.

Hello everyone. We had to completely rebuild the guestbook because we were hacked by someone in Egypt. (I didn't know anyone would be that bored in Egypt.) Anyway, we lost all of our old entries, so now we get to start anew.
