My hats off to the LMF! Great job in reclaiming the Filipino heritage in Stockton, Ca. Keep up the great work.

From that little Filipino kid who walked those streets with his dad and brother back in the 1970's!

I think we should seriously consider having Little Manila re-developed into an Asian/Filipino Center........

My Dad and his brothers were a part of the generation that worked on the farms and played cards in Stockton. This website has brought tears to my eyes... My Dad would have been so proud of everyone fighting to keep our heritage alive. He passed away 10 years ago... he was almost 90 yrs old. Thank you for giving me a part of my Dad back into my heart... My Dad was Ramon Torda

Great website paying homage to the eldest Filipino Generation. My great-grandfather was in the same situation down in Watsonville, California. Saw his picture in a few history books. I'm 4th generation here in the U.S., my kids are 5th generation. We must continue to document and remember those who first came here to the U.S. Proud to be American Filipino! Big Grin

If anybody will be in Illinois this week or has family or friends in the greater Chicago area there will be a big event for Filipino Americans to attend this weekend. Saturday April 5th at the Northern Illinois University Carl Sandburg auditorium the Philippine Student Association will be hosting the play "With Honor". The focus of the play is to raise awareness about Filipino war veterans and how the United States government used them and did not give them all of the benefits they were promised. The event will begin at 7pm and end at 11pm. There will be an after party hosted by PSA NIU. This play is a FREE event .E mail me for more info thank you all.

I suggest everyone interested in Little Manila to watch the DVD of the movie: FAT CITY which was filmed in the heart of Little Manila in 1971. In fact, Most of the movie was filmed at the old QUEZON HOTEL located at 228 South El Dorado Street.
